Our Next SPdL Mission Opportunity
Mission Report: Kentucky Church-Builders Share their Summer Story
Please join us as our Kentucky Church Builder Mission Team presents the missions report from its trip earlier this summer. Scheduled for Wednesday evening Prayer and Bible Study service on September 8, at 6:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, this should be an inspiring report on building up the Kingdom of God.
Second Saturdays at Second-Ponce
Your 2010 Missions Committee has been busy coordinating a whole series of missions projects that will take place throughout the year. Scheduled for the second Saturday of each month, these Second Saturday projects will explore a range of local mission opportunities. Check back often for information on the latest assignment, or contact Ministry Assistant Lisa Lynch directly at 404.591.4366 or llynch@spdl.org.
September 11, 2010 Second Saturday Project: Atlanta Habitat for Humanity
Sign up now to be part of the team representing Second-Ponce de Leon in our first official Habitat for Humanity missions outreach. At our Second Saturday Missions and Ministry Day on September 11, we will join with sister co-sponsoring congregations from First Presbyterian Church and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church to help caulk and paint the interior of a home on day four of its Habitat build. We need 2025 volunteers (age 16 and older) who can commit to the entire workday, which begins at the site at 8 a.m. and goes until 4 p.m., rain or shine. We will provide lunch. Atlanta Habitat furnishes all tools and materials. An orientation meeting for volunteers will be held in advance of the workday. To sign up, contact Lisa Lynch at 404.591.4366 or llynch@spdl.org.
Help Buckhead THRIFTique Stock Its Shelves
Buckhead THRIFTique, Buckhead Christian Ministry's thrift store, will be unable to give vouchers for free clothing to people in need -- more than 400 people monthly -- without your donations. Buckhead THRIFTique provides free clothing to people in crisis and sells affordable clothing to the Atlanta community.
Clean, gently used clothing, small electronics and household items can be donated Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the store’s new location: 800 Miami Circle, Suite 160, Atlanta, GA 30324. Volunteer opportunities are also available for as little as three hours per month. For more information, contact Volunteer Manager
Lacy Kerkhof at 404.239.0058, ext. 111.
Directions from Piedmont Road: Turn onto Miami Circle (between Mercedes Benz of Buckhead and Buckhead Crossing Shopping Center) from Piedmont Road. Drive .3 miles. Turn left at the driveway immediately after Ashore Ironworks and pass under the metal archway. The THRIFTique is on the right at the back of the parking lot.
