Music Opportunities for Children

The Music Ministry works closely with the Children's Ministry to integrate music into our students' total church experience.

Children's Choirs

The Music Ministry sponsors a fully graded choir program for children ages three through sixth grade. The choirs meet on Wednesdays during the school year. Our Second-Ponce Singers participate in worship services every six to eight weeks, and all children's choirs participate in special presentations at Christmas and in the spring.

Our purpose is to teach children about the Love of Jesus through the gift of music. Children will experience this Love, gain confidence, and have fun through singing hymns anthems, creative movement, and playing games and instruments.

Sanctuary Choir Room

Sixth Graders are invited to serve as Choir Mentors. Mentors sing with the choir and assist in more of a leadership role. They have added responsibilities such as taking roll and assisting younger singers when reading music.

Thank you for participating in the Children's Choir Ministry this year! Remember, attendance is counted each week so that Membership and Attendance awards my be given to everyone who earns them at the end of the choir year. Please contact Anne Thomas (678.671.2009) if you will be absent from Wednesday choir rehearsal or from a Sunday worship participation date. You will receive one free pass for your Spring Break. End-of-Year Awards

End-of-Year Awards are earned and presented for the following:

  1. A CHOIR TROPHY will be awarded to each member who completes the choir year. Large trophies will be awarded to children with Superior Choir Attendance, missing NO MORE THAN ONE (1) rehearsal during the choir year. Medium trophies will be awarded to children with Excellent Choir Attendance, missing NO MORE THAN FOUR (4) rehearsals during the choir year.
  2. GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS will be awarded for perfect and excellent (missing no more than two) worship participations for Second-Ponce Singers.
  3. An 8 YEARS OF SERVICE AWARD will be given to 5th grade children who have participated in children's choirs since they were 3 years old.
  4. A BAPTIST HYMNAL will be awarded to each 1st grader in the Music Makers choir.
