Thank you for your interest in the Early Childhood School at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. We would love to have your child become a part of our growing program. We believe each child is a special gift from God, with unique gifts and abilities. Our ECS offers a warm, caring environment, where children are nurtured through enjoyable experiences that are academically challenging and that enhance their love of learning.
Application Process for the 2010/11 School Year:
Applications for the 2010/11 school year are being accepted at this time. Please e-mail Helen Dykes at hdykes@spdl.org for tuition information and registration/application forms.
Our program begins with children who are age one by September 1st. Hours for the preschool are 9 a.m. until noon. Our school year starts in September and ends in May.
The following are some highlights of our program:

- NAEYC (National Academy of Early Childhood Programs) Accreditation
- Total current enrollment of 260
- Classes for Toddlers, Twos, Threes, Pre-K and Pre-Primary
- Developmentally appropriate curriculum throughout all levels
- Classroom learning centers which provide arts & crafts, blocks, manipulatives, phonics, snack time, and multi-sensory play
- Computers, library, outside playground and indoor playground
- Enrichment classes, including: Music & Movement, Mother Goose,
- Spanish, Chapel and Story Time
- Early Morning care from 8 a.m. and Lunch Bunch (after-school care) until 1:30 p.m.
- Volunteer opportunities for parents, including: committees, room mothers/fathers, secret readers, chapel leaders, field trip chaperons and substitute teachers
- Excellent communication with parents through curriculum coffees, parent/teacher conferences and newsletters
- Year-round fun for families, including: book and toy fairs; Christmas Pageant; classroom parties; Spring Fun Fair
- Camps and nursery during the summer months
Admission is determined by several factors, with preference given to returning students, Second-Ponce de Leon Church members, siblings and children who have been on our wait list for more than a year. The Early Childhood School admits students of any race, color or national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policy, scholarship programs and athletic and other school-administered programs.
ECS 2010 Theme Camps
ECS Teachers are designing a variety of Theme Camps for your children to enjoy this summer. Boys and girls ages 2 through 5 are invited to join -- children will be grouped by age.
